Operating systems

    As of STEP 7 V5.6, the operating systems MS Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise, MS Windows Server 2012 as well as MS Windows Server 2016 are supported. For more detailed information on this, refer to the attached "Readme.rtf" file. Or click on the link below for the compatibility list.

Hardware configuration and diagnostics

    As of STEP 7 V 5.6 the assistant for loading H - Stations now offers an option for time optimization.

Editors

    As of STEP 7 V5.6 bookmarks can be used within the AWL editor.

System diagnostics

    For STEP 7 V5.6, the "Process objects" tab of the module state has been renamed "SEC" (System Expansion Card) and additional properties are shown for the license status.

SIMATIC Manager

    As of STEP 7 V5.6, the number of selected objects are shown in the status bar. 

Checking block consistency

    As of STEP 7 V5.6, you can perform an extended consistency check for projects with symbolic addressing. You can find detailed information in the help for block consistency under the heading "Extended consistency check."

    It is not longer possible to install S7 PDIAG V5.3 when using STEP 7 V5.6. 

    Please note that this is a new version of STEP 7. It is not possible to operate this product with licenses from the previous STEP 7 versions. This includes the current STEP 7 Professional V14 Combo licenses. Upgrade packages as well as PowerPacks are available with the release of STEP 7 Professional 2017.

STEP 7 V5.6 Upgrade:

Customers using STEP 7 V5.3, V5.4, or V5.5 can purchase an upgrade. The precondition for installation of the upgrade package is a valid license for STEP 7 V5.3, V5.4, or V5.5.
 

STEP 7 V5.6 Rental License:

Users who only work with STEP 7 occasionally, can purchase a Rental License with an operating time of 50 hours. The time starts elapsing when STEP 7 is started and stops when STEP 7 is closed.
The changeover to Idle State / Standby Mode of your PC with opened STEP 7 software does not stop the elapsing time.

STEP 7 V5.6 Trial License:

Users who wish to know more about STEP 7 can obtain a Trial License. The Trial License will run for 21 days, beginning with the first start of STEP 7. During this period the software has full functionality.
